Sunday August 17th by Y.T., H.H., and S.H.
Today, I went to Coolum Beach. I enjoyed taking pictures, going into the sea, and walking around the beach.
For lunch, I ate medium sushi rolls. The sushi I ate for the first time in a while was delicious.
After lunch, I went shopping near the beach.
I was happy that I could buy a cup, a skincare product, and more at the drugstore. I also bought ice creams flavored with licorice and boysenberry, and I liked them.
Next, I did a lot of shopping at the supermarket.
After buying cabbage, meat, and other things, I was really looking forward to making okonomiyaki.
I was surprised that the supermarket was bigger than the ones in Tokyo. (The host family said, "That's small…") I think the atmosphere was similar to Costco.
On the way back, we went to an observation point and looked at the sky before the sun set. It was very beautiful.
My host brother (the eldest brother) made dinner for us, and it was very delicious.
Finally, I called my friend and ended the day.
Tomorrow I have a Japanese class and will visit a university. I'm really looking forward to it!

Since today was Sunday, I didn’t have school.
I left home at 7 a.m. with my host sister to go to church.
At first, I volunteered outside by greeting people, and then we went inside to listen to songs and speeches for about an hour.
I was sleepy because it was earlier than usual.
After that, we had a barbecue for lunch.
My host family is from South Africa, and my host mother told me that in South Africa they usually have a barbecue once a week.
I was also surprised to learn that in Australia, a barbecue is called “barbie.”
Later, my host father and host brother showed me their hunting knives.
One of my host father’s knives was a belt knife, and at first it looked just like a belt until he showed me how it worked.
For dinner, they served ramen, but it didn’t have soup and was served on a flat plate, which really surprised me.
Since there was no school today, I was able to experience more of Australian culture than usual.

Today, we went to an amusement park called Aussie World with my host family.
There were so many interesting attractions and activities.
On the way to the park, we saw some birds crossing the road. It was very cute and interesting.
While staying in Australia, I found that there is a lot of beautiful nature and many animals here. When I go to the zoo, I want to see some special Australian animals.
We rode some attractions like roller coasters. I had a lot of fun.
After going to the amusement park, we went back home and played video games and practiced baseball.
This is the last weekend, but it was so fun and I would like to say thank you to my host family.
S.H.
