 Today was my first holiday in Australia.


I went to Montville. It’s a small town in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland. There were many small shops.


First, we had lunch at a cafe. It was a shop that sold many kinds of chocolates.


Next, I bought a matching accessory with my roommate Yuno. It is a Turkish amulet called “Nazar boncuğu,” and it is characterized by the design of an eyeball. It is very unique!


Then, I bought a perfume that matches Yuno’s at a fashionable store. It smells like jasmine tea and it’s very nice.

There were other toy shops, candle shops, and general stores, and all of the stores were interesting!!


After that, I went to a National Park to see Kondalilla Falls. It’s a 90-meter waterfall. “Kondalilla” means rushing water in the Aboriginal language.

The waterfall was very powerful. I walked a lot and was too tired. I think it was good exercise for me.


It was a long day. Sometimes I felt motion sickness, but it was fun to make a lot of memories.

Hi everyone,


So today, after breakfast, we went fishing on my host family’s boat.


The ocean here is so much clearer than in Japan, and the breeze felt so nice.

I even caught a bunch of different fish that I had never seen before—it was such a fun experience!


After that, we went to Caloundra to shop for clothes and souvenirs. There were so many shops that you can’t find in Japan, and it was really exciting to look around.


For dinner, my host dad made fish and chips with a huge sea bream he had caught. It was actually my first time trying it, and it was super delicious. I’d love to eat it again!

Today we didn’t go to school and spent the day with the host family because it’s the weekend! 


In the morning, I went to Kondalilla National Park with the family to see the waterfall. 

We walked through the forest and saw many beautiful and big trees. 


After walking for a while, we arrived at the waterfall. It was magnificent! 

I took some beautiful pictures and showed them to my parents. 

I was also surprised to see people swimming there.

After that, we went to Montville, which is a small town. 

We only saw two stores because we didn’t have much time. My buddy had to go to his friend’s birthday party.


In the afternoon, we went to a beach called Point Cartwright to take pictures of the sunset.

We walked along the beach and picked up some beautiful shells. 

After walking, we took a rest and ate some sweets and drank ginger beer. At about 5:30, the sun finally started to go down, so I took many pictures.

 Last night, I took off from Narita for Brisbane. To be honest, I was a bit anxious when I first decided to go to Australia. But as I got closer, my anxiety turned into anticipation, and by the time I boarded the plane, I was filled with excitement. I was surprised to find a beef bowl served on the plane. When I arrived in Brisbane, an Australian tour guide was waiting for me, which made me feel a little relieved. I realized that I had actually come to Australia. After visiting the observatory overlooking Brisbane and the University of Queensland, we had some free time. I had an acai bowl and gelato there. I was surprised that the prices were higher than in Japan. I also went to a convenience store and bought some snacks recommended by the clerk. They were very tasty. Then I met my host family.  Today I interviewed my classmates about yesterday during the English lesson in the morning. They all seemed to enjoy yesterday and said there was nothing they didn't like. We also listened to the clues, and we did the guesswork about which building on the distributed map it was.  After that, at morning tea time, I finally got to meet my buddy, who had been absent until now. I was surprised that his friends were the ones we gave the presentation to, and I had a fun time chatting with them.  In the second half of my English lesson, we had a spelling test of the words from the reading about the Eumundi Markets that we did the day before yesterday. I learned a way of giving directions and did a writing task. Today, I went to school in the morning and attended an ESL class.  The theme of the lesson was Japanese and Australian food.  We also talked in English about what we did over the weekend and played a game where we each said something we bought while shopping and continued in turn.  I could tell that everyone had an enjoyable weekend, and I felt that we spoke up more than last week and were making progress. During the lesson, I also tried speaking with the teacher.  Sometimes my pronunciation did not come across well, but when I was understood, I was very happy and it motivated me to try harder. We also decorated cookies with icing and made koala faces using marshmallows, chocolate, and gummies.  Everyone’s mouths turned blue from the icing, which was very funny, and the cookies were delicious too.
